Discovery of largest galaxy in universe
Astronomers are exploring space and discovering new galaxies. In this regard, a team of astronomers has discovered the world largest galaxy ever in the universe, which is as big as 16.3 million (16.3million) light years(light-year =
9.461 × 1015 metres).
Discovery of new galaxy
That is, alone this one galaxy could hold up to hundred(100) galaxies like our Milky Way galaxy. This galaxy, called "Elsionius", is three billion light years distance away from us, emitting very powerful radio waves. That is why it is also counted among radio galaxies present in our universe.

It should also be noted that these galaxies emit more radio waves than normal galaxies in our universe, which our eyes cannot see because of different wavelength, but the antenna that catches (receives) the radio signal must detect them in a proper way.
Discovery of Elsionius galaxy
Although the Elsionius radio galaxy(largest galaxy in our universe at present)had been discovered a long time ago, its extraordinary (huge) size was disclosed(revealed) in a review of observations made in recent years from the great European project of radio telescopes, the LOFAR (Low Frequency Array).This has been also happening a time ago.
Under Loafer,twenty thousands(20,000) sensitive and powerful radio antennas for celestial observation are installed at fifty two(52) locations across the whole Europe, which work together like a giant(huge) radio telescope. Some radio galaxies are so huge in size that they are called "GRGs" (GRGs) or giant(very large in size) radio galaxies.
A team of experts scientists from Britain, France, Germany and SA(South Africa), under leadership of Martin O'Leary from Leiden University in the Holland, began to re-examine(deep research) the giant radio galaxies seen so far under the important Loafer project.
The main purpose of the study was to find and research about the largest galaxy in these radio images. Radio galaxies contain stars,heavy clouds of gas, and a huge(giant) "supermassive black hole" in the middle(center), all of which is same as mean very similar to any other galaxy in our universe.
Size of Elsionius galaxy
From the center of the radio galaxy, however, powerful blasts(busts)of plasma that mainly consisting of charged particles are erupting. These can only be seen with the help of radio waves in better way.
These features are rare in the other galaxies. Experts found that earlobe-like structures found in Elsionius stretched an incredible(high) distance from its pivot point(center).

On careful and precise measurement, their distance from the galactic center(middle) was found to be at least 5mp( megaparsic) (16.3 million light years), making it the universe largest radio galaxy ever discovered.
